Introduction
New subscribers who answer the survey and opt-in to receive future communications will be added to the standard "Newsletter" subscription, and will also be added to a separate "Issue-based Subscribers" subscription. In the new subscription, everyone who answers the survey will also be labeled with their chosen issues. These issue labels will allow you to filter your emails, and send only to those subscribers who are interested in hearing about a particular issue (or group of issues). The steps below explain how to accomplish this.
Note: After the survey has gone live and the participants have answered, sending an email to the default "Newsletter" subscription will also send to all the new subscribers who have opted in on the survey form.
Sending an Issue-based Mailing
Begin by creating your new issue-based e-mail build in FrontRunner, just like you would with a standard Newsletter (create new email, select the appropriate template, email subject line. etc.). Once you have completed the first step (Add your email), click the "Next" button at the bottom of the page.
On the "Edit your e-mail" page, remove the default "Newsletter" subscription from the "Subscription" field at the top of the page.
Next, click on the field to view the list of subscriptions or begin typing in "Issue-based." In the list that pops up, click to select "Issue-based Subscribers."
Once you have selected the "Issue-based Subscribers" subscription, locate the "Labels" section and click the field to bring up the list. Use the "Issues" list to locate the appropriate label, then click to select it.
After you have selected both the "Issue-based Subscribers" subscription, as well as the appropriate issue label (or labels), your mailing will be sent only to the subscribers that have opted in and checked off the given issue on the survey form.
Continue selecting your preferred settings (Tracking Opens/Link Tracking/etc.), then click the "Next" button at the bottom of the page. On the "Prepare to send" page, you will be able to see the number of subscribers that have elected to receive mailings on the given issue (currently showing none, as survey has not gone live at this time).
After reviewing the Delivery Checklist, the email is complete and ready to send.
Note, sending an email to the "Issue-based subscribers" subscription without selecting a label will send to every subscriber who submitted the survey and opted in.
