Universal Analytics (UA) is going away, and will be reaplaced with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) beginning July 1, 2023. If you already have a UA tracking code, a new GA4 property should have been automatically created for you. If your website is currently integrated with Google Analytics, you will have a UA tracking code.

To make the switch to GA4, you will need the measurement ID from the new GA4 property. The steps below explain how to retrieve and integrate it with HillTop. If you do not currently have a UA tracking code, steps are also included for registering and setting up a new GA4 property. If you have any questions or encounter an issue, please contact [email protected].

Retrieving the Tracking ID (websites with UA)

1. Log into your Google Analytics dashboard (https://analytics.google.com/) and click the Admin button (gear icon) in the lower left corner.

2. Next, locate the "Property" column and click on the property name to open the "Select Property" dropdown menu. Here, select the GA4 property. For example, "Website Title - GA4."

3. With the GA4 property selected, click on "Data Streams" to open the Data Streams panel. Click on the existing data stream to view the details.

4. Locate the Measurement ID and click the "Copy" icon to the right to copy the ID to your clipboard.
