Introduction

With HillTop, you can upload document files to the Warehouse - common file types include .pdf. doc, .xls, and .ppt. Once your documents have been uploaded, you can then share download links directly (see How to Retrieve the Public Link for more information), or add download links to your pages or Posts. This tutorial explains the upload process, as well as how to add your files to pages and Posts.

Uploading a Document File

Step 1 - Click "Add a File"

Place your mouse cursor over the "Warehouse" tab, located in the menu at the top of your HillTop Dashboard, then select "Files" from the drop down menu. This will take you to a page listing the various file types you can upload. Click the link in the right margin, labeled "Add a file," as seen in the image below.

Introduction

File Groups are used to add a list of selected files to your page. By adding a File Group to your page, your visitors will be provided with links that allow them to download each file you add to the group. The steps below explain how to add a File Group.

Step 1 - Edit your Page

Begin by editing the page you wish to add the File Group to. This is done by clicking the "Pages" link, located at the top of your HillTop Dashboard, then locating, or searching for the appropriate page title. Once you have located the appropriate page, click the Edit button (pencil icon) to the left of the title. This will bring you to the page's content editor.

Attaching Files to a Post

In addition to adding your files to Web pages, they can also be attached to Posts. Begin by creating a new Post, or editing an existing Post.

  • If you are creating a new Post, locate the collapsed "Related Content" section on the "Add Post" form, and click the text to expand it. Once the section is expanded, locate the "Files" section and click the "Choose from Warehouse" button. This will display a list of your existing files in a pop-up window.

Use the "quick search" box to search for the title or file name of your document, or scroll through the list to locate it. Once you have located the appropriate file, click the "Select" button to add the file to the list. Once you have selected the appropriate file(s), close the pop-up window by clicking the "X" icon in the upper right corner.

Your selected files should now be listed under the "Files" section. Complete any remaining sections of the "Add Post" form, then click either "Submit" button to create the Post. When viewing your completed Post, the attached files will be displayed as download links at the bottom.

  • If you are editing an existing Post, navigate to the list of Posts in the appropriate Post Type by mousing over the "Posts" link at the top of any page, then clicking the name of the Post Type. Next, locate the title of the Post you wish to edit and click the Edit button (pencil icon) to the left of the Posts's title.

On the "Edit Post" page, locate the collapsed "Related Content" section, and click the text to expand it. In the expanded section, locate the "File" section, then click the "Choose from Warehouse" button.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click either "Submit" button to update your Post with the selected document files.
